(a) Christmas Wish

There’s nothing that I long for more
Than a Christmas like in times before,
When hectic rush did not play a part
And the gifts that were given came from the heart.

I long for the calm of a silent night
When all around is serene and quiet,
I wish I could feel just a tiny share
Of warm humanity, loving care.

This year what I wish for more than all
Is a Christmas like when I was small:
Once upon a time, so long before,
A little counted for so much more.
